Nigeria international Ademola Lookman has described Atalanta’s upcoming UEFA Super Cup final clash against Real Madrid as “an appointment with history.”
Lookman will be aiming to help the Italian side to upset the European champions when the two teams meet on Wednesday evening at the National Stadium in Warsaw.
The 25-year-old is one of the players to watch, having enjoyed an impressive campaign last season that ended with a sensational hat-trick in the final of the Europa League against Bayer Leverkusen.

That, however, does not change Atalanta’s status as underdogs going into the game, with Real Madrid set to parade a superior team, led by Vinicius Jr, Jude Bellingham and summer signing Kylian Mbappe.
Ademola Lookman ‘can’t wait’ to face Real Madrid in UEFA Super Cup final
Lookman, who scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists across all competitions last season, acknowledged Real Madrid’s superiority but said he and his teammates relish facing them.
According to him, Atalanta have been eagerly preparing for the game and won’t need any motivation to turn up against the Spanish giants. He noted that every footballer dreams of playing in such big games while describing Carlo Ancelotti’s side as the greatest team in the world.
“Wonderful, these are the games you have wanted to play since you were a child and finally, the moment has come. We won the Europa League, and we will now play for another trophy,” Lookman said.
“We can’t wait. We are preparing with obsessive attention. So yes, we will be ready! We don’t need great motivation; we will face a top team, and it’s an appointment with history. They are the greatest football team in the world, and it will be an exciting chapter and opportunity for everyone.”
Meanwhile, Ademola Lookman is looking to join the exclusive list of Nigerians who have won the UEFA Super Cup, including Nwankwo Kanu, Finidi George and Celestine Babayaro.
