Lookman transfer has a powerful advocate within the Barcelona hierarchy

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman is expected to leave Atalanta this summer, but his next destination remains uncertain.

The 27-year-old has attracted interest from several top clubs across Europe, making him one of the most talked-about players ahead of the transfer window. Juventus has been strongly linked with a move, but in recent weeks, Barcelona have emerged as a surprise contender.

Barça manager Hansi Flick is reportedly a fan of Lookman, especially after his outstanding hat-trick in the Europa League final, which helped Atalanta defeat Bayer Leverkusen 3-0.

Despite Barcelona’s long-term interest in Luis Díaz, Flick has expressed a preference for a younger, pacier option.

What would Ademola Lookman bring to Barcelona?

Lookman has been in sensational form, registering 13 goals and five assists in 24 Serie A matches this season.

His pace, dribbling ability, and technical skills make him an ideal fit for Barcelona’s attacking setup.

However, his estimated €60-70 million price tag could pose a challenge for Barcelona, given their ongoing financial struggles. The club may need to offload some players before making a move for the Nigeria international.

If he does make the move to Camp Nou, however, Lookman would be only the third Nigerian to play for the Catalan giants, after Gbenga Okunowo and Emmanuel Amuneke. Interestingly, like the latter, the Atalanta forward would be joining the club having previously been named CAF Player of the Year.

Lookman’s future will likely be one of the major talking points of the summer transfer window.

Whether he opts for a Premier League return, stays in Italy with Juventus, or secures a dream move to Barcelona, one thing is certain—his next step will be a significant one in his career.
