The Super Falcons of Nigeria are poised to make a long-awaited return to Lagos, where they will host Algeria in two international friendly matches later this month.

The games, scheduled for Saturday, October 26th, and Tuesday, October 29th, will take place at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Lagos Island.

This marks the Falcons' first match in Lagos since their third-place finish in the Aisha Buhari Invitational Tournament in 2021.

A new chapter under Justine Madugu

Head Coach Justine Madugu has announced a 25-player squad for the friendlies, with a blend of home-based talents, seasoned internationals, and rising stars. Leading the group are key players like captain Rasheedat Ajibade and goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, both instrumental in Nigeria’s recent campaigns.

The squad also includes notable names such as Oluwatosin Demehin, who plies her trade in Turkey with Galatasaray Sportive FC, and Spain-based Gift Monday.

Madugu’s squad is further bolstered by Falconets who represented Nigeria at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia, including Comfort Folorunsho and several homegrown professionals who are ready to showcase their talents on home soil.

This international friendly series will be the first major outing for the Super Falcons since their participation in the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in France.

The Algerian team is expected to arrive in Nigeria on October 23rd ahead of the doubleheader. The matches have been approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and will be officiated by FIFA match officials from Benin Republic. The friendlies serve as a crucial step in preparations for upcoming competitions, providing both teams the opportunity to fine-tune their strategies.
