Born on October 9, 1994, Oshoala’s rise was never straightforward. Her parents, especially her father, disapproved of her sporting ambitions, believing education held a more secure future. She defied the odds, honing her craft on the streets before making a name for herself at FC Robo and Rivers Angels.

It was in 2014 that the world took notice, her dazzling performances at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup saw her win the Golden Boot and Golden Ball, an announcement of her arrival on the global stage.

From there, history unfolded. She became the first African woman to play in England’s WSL with Liverpool, then lifted silverware with Arsenal. A move to China followed, but it was at Barcelona that she became a legend. 117 goals, five league titles, two UEFA Women’s Champions League crown, and multiple individual accolades. She is the first African to score in a UWCL final and remains the only player from the continent to score in three consecutive World Cups.

The Bay FC star has a record-breaking six CAF Women’s Player of the Year awards, making her Africa’s most decorated female footballer.

Oshoala is a forward blessed with explosive pace, intelligent movement, and lethal finishing. Her ability to time runs behind defensive lines makes her a nightmare for defenders, while her versatility allows her to operate as a central striker or a wide forward. Known for her relentless pressing, aerial ability, and clinical composure in front of goal, she thrives in high-tempo attacking systems.
