Asisat Oshoala has never been one to speak carelessly. So when the Super Falcons star shares her discomfort publicly, it demands attention.
In the wake of fresh allegations against Bay FC head coach Albertin Montoya, Oshoala’s recent posts paint a troubling picture. “How can people be needing mental support every year?” she wrote on her X page. “Caress me……by end of d year, it might be psychiatrist support.”
She followed it up with another: “Waking up and feeling reluctant to show up to work cus of a protected somebody is draining!”

Bay FC silent on veiled Asisat Oshoala allegations
These comments come just as the San Francisco Chronicle published a report accusing Montoya of bullying and creating a toxic environment. Two formal complaints were filed in 2024, and eight players from Bay FC’s inaugural squad have since left. The league was reportedly made aware of at least one complaint.
Montoya, a long-time Bay Area figure, was hired after a global coaching search. His close relationship with club majority owner Alan Waxman, through the Mountain View Los Altos Soccer Club, has since come under scrutiny.

Bay signed Oshoala in January after her contract with Barcelona expired. The first women’s professional soccer team in the Bay Area since FC Gold Pride, Bay FC made history by qualifying for the playoffs in their debut season.
The six-time CAF Women’s Player of the Year led the scoring chart with seven goals in the regular season and netted the team’s only goal in the playoffs, her eighth of the year.
For Oshoala to speak out, even cryptically, suggests deep frustration. Bay FC have yet to respond publicly.
