Victor Boniface has opened up about the impact of Xabi Alonso's coaching, revealing how the former midfield maestro continually pushes him to elevate his game.
The Nigerian striker made headlines last weekend with a decisive late goal, securing Bayer Leverkusen a thrilling 4-3 victory over Wolfsburg in dramatic fashion.
Boniface has so far made a notable impression this season, scoring three goals and providing one assist in five matches across all competitions.

Drawing inspiration from the legendary Didier Drogba, Alonso challenges Boniface to harness his physical attributes and technique, demanding more from the striker with each performance.
Boniface on Alonso's guidance: ‘Play like Drogba and push beyond limits'
In a recent interview with Sporty TV, Victor Boniface shed light on the invaluable guidance he receives from the Spanish trainer, crediting the Leverkusen coach for continually pushing him to reach new heights.
According to the 23-year-old, Alonso motivates him to model his game after the legendary Ivorian striker and Chelsea icon Drogba.
“With the coach Xabi Alonso, he was a top footballer in his playing days, and everybody knows how good he was,” Boniface said.

“He tries to motivate us as a coach, and even when we are playing well, he demands more from me, especially.
“He tells me, Boni, you have the body, the technique, and the size. You have everything. I want you to give me more.
“He tells me to watch Drogba. To be honest, in the last game, which we won 4-3, before I came on, he told me to be strong, to be in the box, to play like Drogba. He’s always behind us and we want to give 100% because we trust him.”
