In what has been a whirlwind few days for Victor Boniface, the Nigerian striker found himself in the headlines both on and off the pitch.
After scoring the winning goal in Bayer Leverkusen's 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, Boniface was involved in a serious car accident later that same night.
After missing a penalty earlier in the game, he showed resilience and determination, slotting in the decisive goal that secured Leverkusen’s fourth Bundesliga win of the season.

This goal capped off an eventful week for the forward, who also had to endure a challenging trip with the Super Eagles during their AFCON qualifier against Libya.
Boniface escapes with minor injuries after car crash
While celebrating his latest footballing success, Boniface’s fortunes took a sudden turn when the car he was in was involved in a crash. The striker shared video footage and photos on social media, showing his blood-stained hand and the badly wrecked vehicle.
Reports suggest that Boniface was on his way to pick up friends from the airport when the accident occurred. Thankfully, Boniface was not behind the wheel and suffered only minor injuries, despite the severe damage to the car.
Despite the severity of the crash, the 23-year-old escaped with minor injuries to his hand and is now recovering in hospital.
Bayer Leverkusen released a statement confirming that Boniface is doing well, with just two small injuries to his hand.
“He is fine,” the club reassured fans, calming concerns after the incident. The forward posted on Instagram, expressing gratitude: “God is the greatest.”
