Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare was the hero for KRC Genk on Saturday, netting twice in a thrilling 4-3 away victory over Beerschot in the Belgian top flight.

The win marked Genk's second consecutive league victory, pushing them to 5th place on the table, just two points behind leaders Westerlo, who have a game in hand.

The match kicked off with a bang, as Beerschot opened the scoring in the 7th minute. However, Genk responded swiftly, equalising from the penalty spot after former Nigeria youth international Yira Sor was fouled inside the box.

The visitors' momentum continued to build and, in the 30th minute, a precise pass found Tolu Arokodare, who made no mistake, slotting the ball into the net to give Genk the lead.

Ten minutes later, defender Cuesta extended Genk’s advantage, making it 3-1 after a well-timed assist from Bilal El Khannous. The away side went into halftime with a comfortable two-goal cushion.

Beerschot, however, were not ready to give up, and reduced the deficit to 3-2 in the 61st minute. But Genk quickly restored their two-goal lead just three minutes later; the two Nigerians on the pitch combining brilliantly as Sor assisted Arokodare for his second goal of the match, making it 4-2.

The drama continued as Beerschot was awarded a penalty in the dying minutes, which they scored to make it 4-3. Despite the hosts' late push for an equalizer, Genk held firm to secure all three points.

Tolu Arokodare's brace took his tally to four goals for the season, underlining his importance to Genk's attacking lineup as they continue their push up the table.
