New manager of the Super Eagles, Eric Chelle has set his sights on lifting the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2025) trophy, vowing that his team is on a mission of revenge.

Chelle shared his remarks following the draw for the 2025 AFCON, held on Monday in Rabat, Morocco, where the Super Eagles were drawn into Group C alongside Tanzania, Uganda, and Tunisia.

After guiding Mali to the quarterfinals in the last edition, where they lost to hosts Ivory Coast, Chelle now sets his sights on redemption with his new team.

The Super Eagles, under Portuguese manager José Peseiro, suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Ivory Coast in the final of the previous edition, and now, the Malian manager is determined to lead them to glory in Morocco.

“We are out for revenge,” Chelle said in an exclusive interview with CAF. “I know I've got a team that's out for revenge, and I'm out for revenge too, so we're going to have a lot of fun.”

Nigeria, with three AFCON titles from 21 appearances, remains one of the tournament's favourites, bolstered by a star-studded team.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, across six cities in Morocco.
