Chelsea’s Super Eagles target reveals Premier League dislike

Following recent comments, Chelsea’s pursuit of Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface could be over before it has even begun.

The Blues have reportedly identified Boniface, who is thriving at Bayer Leverkusen, as a potential target. According to Transfer News Live, Chelsea scouts have been closely following the 23-year-old’s performances in the Bundesliga, sparking rumors of a potential transfer.

However, despite the growing interest from English clubs, Boniface has expressed a clear preference for continuing his career in Spain or Germany.

In an interview with Sporty TV, the Nigerian striker revealed his affinity for Spain and Germany

“I don’t really like the Premier League, I prefer Spanish and German football,” Victor Boniface said.

“I am not saying if a good team comes for me I won’t go. I am just saying, if you ask me to pick two countries I’d love to play and live in, it’s Germany and Spain.

“I’d love to play for any of the big three in Spain.”

The Super Eagles forward, known for his technical skills and flair, could find it challenging to adapt to the Premier League's physical and fast-paced style. His strengths align better with the technical emphasis of La Liga and the Bundesliga.

While he could succeed in England with adaptation, leagues prioritizing skill and tactics might be a more natural fit initially.

Boniface's move to Bayer Leverkusen last season followed an impressive stint in Belgium, where he netted 22 goals and provided 12 assists in 55 appearances for Royale Union SG.

His transition to German football has been even more striking. In his debut Bundesliga campaign, he played a pivotal role, helping Bayer Leverkusen to the Bundesliga title and lifting the German Cup (21 goals and provided ten assists in 39 appearances).

Boniface has continued his fine form this season, already recording four goals and one assist in six games.
