Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem is reportedly set to move to Major League Soccer (MLS), sources have told Afrik-Foot.
Currently contracted to the Portuguese club Boavista, the 27-year-old has attracted interest from clubs in Turkey and the United States. However, it now appears that he will be heading to North America.
FC Cincinnati to bolster defence with experienced Super Eagles defender
MLS side FC Cincinnati are keen on acquiring Awaziem, who was part of the Nigeria squad for the last Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Ivory Coast.
Last season, Awaziem played 22 games for Boavista, playing a crucial role as they fought to avoid relegation in the Portuguese top flight.
FC Cincinnati are in need of defensive reinforcements and have identified Awaziem as a key addition to bolster their backline.
Should he make the move, Awaziem would join fellow Nigerian and former Enugu Rangers midfielder, Obinna Nwobodo, at the club.
Chidozie Awaziem made his debut for the Super Eagles in 2017 and has since earned 34 caps for Nigeria. Despite being in and out of the national team, he has yet to fully reach the potential he initially showed.

Versatile in both midfield and defence, Awaziem has had an extensive career across several countries.
Globe-trotting Chidozie Awaziem to find new home in Cincinnati
The Nigeria international has played in Croatia with Hajduk Split, France with FC Nantes, Turkey with Alanyaspor and Çaykur Rizespor, Spain with CD Leganés, and in Portugal with FC Porto and Boavista.
If the transfer to FC Cincinnati materialises, it will mark a new chapter in Awaziem’s career, offering him an opportunity to make a significant impact in MLS.
