Chukwueze opens up on ‘difficult’ start to the season with Milan

Samuel Chukwueze has finally addressed his recent struggles in AC Milan, acknowledging the challenges he has faced since the season commenced.

His remarks come on the heels of a solid performance, where the Nigerian international registered an assist in Milan's 3-1 win over Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League at San Siro.

However, the road to success has not been easy for the Nigerian winger.

Despite showing promise in a Serie A match against Udinese last weekend, Chukwueze found himself on the bench at the start of the Champions League clash.

His opportunity finally came when he replaced Portugal's Rafael Leão shortly after the hour mark.

Barely 19 minutes on the pitch, he delivered a crucial assist to Tijjani Reijnders, contributing significantly to Milan's victory.

In a mere 30 minutes on the pitch, Chukwueze made 26 touches and successfully completed three dribbles, an impressive record despite limited time.

After the match, Chukwueze expressed a mix of relief and determination.

According to the Super Eagles star, it was an exciting moment to possess such confidence on the pitch, reflecting on the tough month he had endured since the season kicked off.

“I think it's a great moment to have this kind of confidence to play. It has been a very difficult month since the season. I think playing this (Champions League) and having this confidence to score in the last game and give assist today is actually a good feeling,” he said.

As AC Milan looks ahead, Chukwueze expressed the need to build on this momentum, particularly with a clash against Real Madrid looming on the horizon.

Yet, before that high-profile clash, a critical away match against Bologna awaits, where the Nigerian will be hoping to deliver a big blow to his struggles in Milan once again.
