Chukwueze: Milan struggles diagnosed – ‘He cannot handle San Siro pressure’

Former Torino forward Osarimen Ebagua has raised doubts over whether Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze was fully prepared for the challenges of joining AC Milan.

Chukwueze's move to Milan from Villarreal in the summer of 2023 came with high expectations. However, the winger has struggled to live up to the hype, finding it difficult to establish himself as a key player in the Milan squad.

Ebagua suggested that his move to Milan might have been premature, citing the immense pressure that accompanies playing for the Italian giants.

Speaking candidly, Ebagua highlighted the immense pressure of playing at San Siro, suggesting that Chukwueze may be struggling to cope with the demands of such a historic club.

“San Siro is a stadium that is also not very forgiving and leaves little margin: probably, at this moment, Chukwueze is not able to express himself at his best because he is not ready to play in certain contexts.

“Sometimes, it can also be a question of mentality, of pressure,” he told Europa Calcio.

The 25-year-old's stint with the Rossoneri could be nearing an unexpected end, as reports suggest the Nigeria international might be on his way out during the January transfer window.

Since his arrival, three different coaches have taken charge at the club, but none have been convinced of Chukwueze's potential. The current manager, Sergio Conceição, has reportedly excluded him from his plans and is open to his departure should a suitable offer arise.

Currently recovering from an injury, he has made 22 appearances for Milan across all competitions this season, scoring three goals, registering one assist, and averaging 47 minutes per match.

In recent weeks, Chukwueze has been linked with multiple unnamed clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
