Correct score prediction as Iwobi’s Fulham tussle with red-hot Newcastle

Published on by

Newcastle United will be aiming to maintain their push for a top-four finish when they welcome Fulham to St James’ Park on Saturday.

The Magpies, currently fifth in the Premier League table with 41 points from 23 games, are in a tight race for Champions League qualification. Eddie Howe’s side may have seen their winning streak halted by Bournemouth, but they remain in contention for a coveted top-four spot, trailing fourth-placed Manchester City on goal difference.

Fulham, meanwhile, are still in the hunt for European football. Marco Silva’s men sit 10th in the league, but with just eight points separating them from the top four, the Cottagers have plenty to play for.

They snapped a winless run with a solid 2-0 victory over Leicester City before falling to a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to Manchester United. However, their away form has been impressive, with just one defeat in their last seven on the road, including credible results at Tottenham, Liverpool, and Chelsea.

Correct score prediction: Newcastle vs Fulham

Newcastle will be eager to avenge their 3-1 defeat in the reverse fixture and return to winning ways at home. Despite Fulham’s improved away performances, the Magpies are formidable at St James’ Park, and their attacking firepower could prove too much for the visitors.

Prediction: Newcastle 2-1 Fulham.

Iwobi leading Fulham’s European charge

Alex Iwobi has been one of Fulham’s top players this season, enjoying his most productive campaign yet. The Nigerian international has contributed seven goals and three assists in 23 Premier League appearances, accounting for 29% of Fulham’s goals.

His ability to link play and provide crucial pre-assists has made him a vital cog in Silva’s system.

Beyond his numbers, Iwobi’s tactical flexibility has allowed him to thrive in multiple roles, whether as a central playmaker or drifting wide to create overloads.

His energy and creativity will be essential as Fulham look to secure a European spot, particularly against a Newcastle side desperate to return to Champions League football.

Calvin Bassey has been a mainstay in Fulham’s defence, featuring in 22 of their 23 league games this season.

The Nigerian centre-back has brought physicality and composure, though the Cottagers have struggled defensively in recent weeks, conceding three goals in their last three matches.

Silva’s shift to a three-man defence, featuring Bassey alongside Issa Diop and Tosin Adarabioyo, has provided some stability. However, they will need to be at their best against Newcastle’s attacking threats, particularly Alexander Isak, who has been in fine form. Bassey’s aerial strength and ability to play out from the back will be crucial in resisting Newcastle’s high press and limiting their chances in front of goal.
