Dessers, introduced in the 71st minute, made an instant impact, scoring Rangers’ equalizer in the 88th minute. The Nigerian striker, connecting with James Tavernier's incisive pass, slotted a left-footed shot into the bottom corner.
It marked his second UEFA Europa League goal of the season, following his earlier strike against Olympiakos in November 2024.
In his 19-minute cameo, Dessers attempted two shots, one on target and another that struck the post in the 83rd minute. He completed one of three passes, won one of two ground duels, and lost possession three times.
The Belgium-born forward’s contribution highlighted his growing confidence, days after netting a hat-trick against Fraserburgh F.C. in the Scottish Cup on Sunday.
Tonight’s strike marked a significant milestone for Cyriel Dessers, taking his tally to 150 competitive goals in his 11-year career.
Balogun's performance in numbers
Leon Balogun, making his first start after injury, put up a composed first-half display. The 35-year-old center-back completed nine of 12 passes (75%), made two tackles, one interception, and three clearances, and was not dribbled past.
Unfortunately, an injury saw him substituted at halftime, paving the way for Ross McCausland.
