Nigeria winger Chidera Ejuke has provided a candid perspective on Kelechi Iheanacho's goal-scoring struggles since his arrival at Sevilla this summer.
Both Ejuke and Iheanacho joined the Spanish club at the beginning of the season, with the tricky winger arriving on a free transfer from Russian side CSKA Moscow after spending the 2023/24 season on loan at Royal Antwerp. Iheanacho, likewise, joined Sevilla as a free agent after departing Leicester City.
Unlike Ejuke, who has swiftly adapted to his new environment, the more experienced Iheanacho has struggled to find his footing at Sevilla.

However, the 26-year-old believes that overthinking may be impeding his compatriot's performances, contributing to a challenging start to his Sevilla career.
Ejuke identifies overthinking as a potential barrier for Iheanacho
In a recent interview with Marca, Ejuke reflected on Iheanacho's goal-scoring struggles, shedding light on the mental challenges that strikers frequently encounter in high-pressure situations.
“Kelechi is a great guy. He's a good player. That's why Victor Orta brought him to Sevilla. A good guy.
“Obviously at the moment… he's a striker and he wants to score goals, he wants to help the team. So he's probably thinking about that. But I think above that he's a great guy, a good person who brings a lot of energy to the team,” he said.

Ejuke has made seven appearances in La Liga, starting four matches and contributing one goal, with an average of 58 minutes per game.
In contrast, Iheanacho has played five La Liga matches, starting three, averaging 54 minutes per game, but has yet to score or provide an assist.
