Ezekiel: Impressive debut for Super Falcons forward in Valencia draw

Super Falcons forward Motunrayo Ezekiel made a strong start to her career in Spain by coming off the bench to assist her team in securing a goal in Valencia’s 1-1 draw against Deportivo Abanca Femenino in the Liga F on Saturday.

The defender, who joined Valencia in January, started on the bench as her team travelled to face Deportivo Abanca.

The home side took the lead in the 14th minute when Ainhoa ​​Marín struck a powerful shot from outside the penalty area, sending the ball into the top right corner of Valencia’s goal.

Deportivo continued to dominate and created several chances but failed to extend their lead before the first half ended in their favour.

In the second half, Valencia came close to equalizing when they had a goal cleared off the line in the 81st minute.

As they intensified their attacking pressure, Ezekiel was introduced off the bench in the 83rd minute, replacing Marta Mascarell.

The 21-year-old Nigerian made an immediate impact, setting up her teammate Emma Martin, who slammed home the equalizer just two minutes later.

Neither side could find a winner, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

The former Nigeria U-20 forward played for 12 minutes but made a significant impact by providing the assist for Valencia’s equalizer.

She completed three of her four pass attempts, achieving a 75% success rate.

Ezekiel also made one key pass and registered a shot on target during her brief time on the pitch.

She did not contest any aerial duels but won the only ground duel she engaged in.
