Fulham vs Leicester City preview & predicted XI: Can Ndidi continue his renaissance against Iwobi’s Cottagers?

Published on by

Fulham visit Leicester City on Saturday as both teams seek their first win of the 2024/25 Premier League season after underwhelming starts.

We preview the Fulham vs Leicester City match, as well as provide a prediction as to how the scoreline may ultimately pan out.

Quick Stats

  • Fulham are just one of six teams not to have scored on the opening weekend of the new league season.
  • Leicester have returned victorious from just one of their last five league trips to Craven Cottage.
  • Fulham ended the last campaign with a wretched record at home, winning none of their final four matches (three losses and a draw) there.
  • Leicester signed off a triumphant Championship campaign with a 3-0 win away to Preston North End, but they had lost all of their preceding four games on the road.

Match Preview

Fulham went to Old Trafford in the season's opening game full of confidence, having secured a big win on their previous visit.

There would, however, be no reason for joy this time, as debutant Joshua Zirkzee scored late to nick it for the hosts.

It was not a particularly bad day for either Alex Iwobi or Calvin Bassey — though the latter almost widened United's margin of victory, but for Alejandro Garnacho missing the open goal that resulted from the defender's gaffe — yet both Nigerian stars would feel Fulham deserved more; and ‘more’ is exactly what they would seek to achieve in their next outing.

In their way, though, stands a Leicester side featuring their international teammate Wilfred Ndidi — and potentially Italy-born Nigerian centre-back Caleb Okoli, in line for his competitive bow for Leicester following his arrival from Atalanta in the summer — that are themselves looking to properly get off the mark on their return to elite-level football.

Steve Cooper's side survived a difficult first game back, against Tottenham Hotspur at the King Power Stadium last Monday, recovering from a first-half one-goal deficit to claim a draw at full-time.

More than the result, however, it was the performance after recess that would have encouraged Foxes fans about what is to come — starting with the upcoming trip to the capital.

Fulham vs Leicester City Prediction

Fulham fans are overdue for a home win, not enjoying one since March (3-0 vs Tottenham), and they have cause to expect one against Leicester, given they have won three of their last four meetings.

Should their next encounter prove anything like the last — a chaotic eight-goal thriller — neutrals are in for an absolute treat.
