French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco have secured the services of 17-year-old Lagos-born wonderkid, George Ilenikhena. The promising forward joins the principality club after an impressive season with Belgian champions Royal Antwerp.
The Super Eagles prospect made a significant impact at Antwerp following his €6 million move from Amiens SC in the summer of 2023, so much so that, despite the club's failure to retain their title, his performances attracted interest from top clubs in Italy, France, and England.
Monaco have ultimately won the race for his signature in a deal reportedly worth €20 million, subject to a medical.

France return opens door to Super Eagles invite for George Ilenikhena
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, George Ilenikhena relocated to France with his family at a young age.
He began his football journey in the French youth system before making his professional debut with Amiens.
Standing out for his physicality, pace, and versatility, Ilenikhena can operate effectively both as a winger and a central striker.
His goal-scoring prowess was evident last season, with eight goals and one assist in the Jupiler Pro League, along with a Champions League goal and five Belgian Cup strikes.
Despite representing France at youth level since 2021, Ilenikhena remains eligible to play for Nigeria's Super Eagles at senior international level.
The deal, which is expected to be finalized this week, represents a significant step forward in the career of the teenage sensation. Monaco finished as runners-up in Ligue 1 last season, nine points behind winners Paris Saint-Germain.
