Arsenal‘s rising talent Ife Ibrahim has revealed his eligibility to represent Nigeria at the international level through his parents. The versatile midfielder, who has been with the Gunners since 2016, has continued to impress at the club’s academy and recently signed a scholarship deal for the 2024-2025 season.
While Ibrahim is not yet provisionally cap-tied to England, having represented their U15 team, his Nigerian heritage leaves the door open for a future with the Super Eagles.
Ibrahim’s football journey began at grassroots club AFC All Stars before he was poached by Arsenal, despite interest from Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United. Initially a forward, Ibrahim idolized Cristiano Ronaldo, the Real Madrid and Manchester United legend, but transitioned into a midfielder during his time at Hale End.

Ibrahim is from the Yoruba tribe in Nigeria
“I grew up in south London, around the north Greenwich area, and started playing football at the age of seven,” Ibrahim told Arsenal’s matchday programme during their fixture against Leicester City.
“My background is Nigerian, and my family speaks Yoruba – I’m definitely a big fan of the culture, especially when it comes to the music, food, and traditions.”
The 17-year-old enjoyed a solid final season as a schoolboy, appearing in ten matches for Arsenal’s U18 Premier League side. Known for his composure on the ball and ability in 1v1 situations, Ibrahim also offers versatility, having been deployed as a fullback.

Ibrahim has had the chance to train with Arsenal's first team during the international break in September, ahead of the Gunners' Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
With his continued development at Arsenal and his connection to Nigeria, Ibrahim will be closely watched by both the Nigerian Football Federation and Arsenal fans alike, as he takes the next steps in his promising career.
