La Liga side Sevilla have completed the signing of Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho on a free transfer.
Iheanacho underwent a medical examination on Tuesday, and an official announcement followed in Wednesday night. The former Leicester City forward, whose contract expired at the end of last season, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Andalusian club.
The Nigeria international figured in Leicester’s promotion back to the Premier League last season, scoring six goals and providing three assists in 26 appearances.

His versatility and goal threat made him a coveted asset in the transfer market, with several top clubs showing interest in his services.

Sevilla have moved swiftly to secure the signature of the 2013 FIFA U-17 Golden Boy, who is expected to replace Morocco’s Youssef En-Nesyri and also be a focal point of their attack under new manager Garcia Pimienta.
The Spanish side are looking to rebuild after a disappointing 2023/24 campaign which saw them finish in 14th place.
Kelechi Iheanacho joins fellow countryman Chidera Ejuke at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, as Sevilla continue to strengthen their ties with Nigerian football.
Sevilla’s interest in Nigerian talent extends beyond the first team. The club recently signed an agreement with the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) to collaborate on coach education and youth development.
The acquisition of Iheanacho and Ejuke, coupled with the partnership with the NPFL, highlights Sevilla’s commitment to the Nigerian market. It remains to be seen whether this relationship will continue to flourish in the coming years.
