His arrival will add more firepower to the Atalanta attack as they continue to mount a challenge for the Serie A title.

Atalanta has fallen off of recent after a stellar start to the season as they are now in third place on the table, six points behind leaders Napoli and have played a game more.

Lookman, who has been out injured, missed Atalanta’s 2-2 draw against Barcelona in the Champions League and was also absent in the 1-1 draw with Torino in Serie A on Saturday.

While he remains a key figure in Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad, the arrival of Maldini means the Nigerian forward will have to fight for his place once he returns to full fitness.

In his absence, Charles De Ketelaere and Mateo Retegui have led the attack, though Atalanta’s recent results have been far from convincing.

Will Lookman extend his contract at Atalanta?

Lookman’s contract runs until the summer of 2026, and with clubs like Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal monitoring his situation, Atalanta may already be planning for life after the Nigerian star.

In the UEFA Champions League, he has played six games and scored four goals and registered two assists.

Now, he faces a fresh challenge as he works his way back into the team.
