Luton boss Edwards praises Moses’ humility and anticipates positive impact

Luton Town manager Rob Edwards has spoken highly of new signing Victor Moses, highlighting his humility and seamless integration into the squad.

The former Nigeria international joined Luton Town last week on a free transfer, following his departure from Russian club Spartak Moscow earlier this summer, where he spent nearly four years after initially joining on loan from Chelsea in 2020.

The 33-year-old is no stranger to English football, having previously enjoyed stints with Crystal Palace, Wigan Athletic, Liverpool, Stoke City, West Ham United, and Chelsea. During his nine-year tenure at Chelsea, Moses won the Premier League, Europa League, and FA Cup.

However, his time at Stamford Bridge was frequently interrupted by various loan spells, including stints at Liverpool, West Ham United, Turkey's Fenerbahce, and Italy's Inter Milan.

Edwards, while noting Moses’ distinct qualities compared to a former player (Ross Barkley), expressed optimism about the impact the experienced player can make at the club.

Edwards reflects on Moses' positive influence and readiness for the challenge

Edwards recently discussed the addition of Victor Moses to his squad, highlighting the positive character and potential impact of the new signing.

“We always ask people for a bit of a character reference and everything came out really positive on Victor, but as soon as you speak to him, you know that as well. He’s a very down-to-earth, quiet, humble guy and someone who fits seamlessly into the group. He’s always got a smile on his face, but we spoke to a few people on him and everything came back really, really positive,” Edwards said as per Luton Today.

“They’re different players, different positions. Ross had a massive impact and did great; Victor’s his own man and we’ll see what impact he makes, but we signed him for a reason and we hope he can do that. Time will tell on that, different people, but I'll reiterate, really pleased to get him in the building. He’s a really good guy, very humble, and he’s looking forward to the challenge as well.”

Meanwhile, Moses was an unused substitute in Luton Town’s 1-0 away victory over Millwall at The Den on Saturday.

Moses also represented Nigeria 38 times appearing in the 2014 and 2018 World Cups.
