Just ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash on Tuesday, AC Milan have decided to bench Super Eagles star Samuel Chukwueze, whose recent goal contribution has sparked excitement among fans.

The forward, fresh off scoring the only goal in a crucial victory over Udinese, finds himself sidelined as the Rossoneri prepare to face Club Brugge.

This unexpected choice raises eyebrows and might likely ignite more speculation regarding the future of the Nigerian winger.

Chukwueze, who is struggling to hit form since joining Milan, netted his first goal of the season during a nail-biting 1-0 win over Udinese at San Siro.

Despite an injury setback following international duties with Nigeria, he displayed resilience, earning a place in the starting lineup for the first time since August's 2-2 draw with Lazio.

His striking goal, a precise shot into the far corner, was set up brilliantly by teammates Noah Okafor and Christian Pulisic, earning him the man of the match award.

However, AC Milan coach Paulo Fonseca’s decision to bench Chukwueze for the upcoming match against Brugge has also left many wondering why.

During his pre-match press conference, Fonseca named his starting XI for the fixture which did not include the Nigerian, indicating a shift in tactical plans.

‘I am satisfied with the players available. We also have Camarda, so I don't think we need attacking players. Chukwueze and Okafor, they did very well against Udinese,” the coach stated.

With only three starts this season, Chukwueze's position in the squad has come under scrutiny, fuelling rumours of a potential January exit from the club.

The timing of his benching, following such a brilliant performance, prompts questions about his role moving forward.

As AC Milan bench Chukwueze, fans are left wondering if this decision will mark a turning point in the young star’s career with the Italian giants.
