Super Eagles forward Moses Simon is enjoying a standout season with Nantes, producing arguably his best output since joining the French club from Levante in the 2019/20 campaign.
The 29-year-old has racked up 16 goal contributions—seven goals and nine assists—and remains central to Nantes’ battle against relegation for the second straight season.
Furthermore, Simon has missed just two league matches this term and continues to be the team’s go-to player.

His importance to the squad is underlined by the tactical approach of his team, which revolves around feeding him the ball in attacking areas. More often than note, he repays the trust: Simon's assist in this past weekend’s 2-1 win over Nice lifted Nantes out of the relegation zone and further solidified his role as the Canaries' talisman.
He is a strong contender for the inaugural ‘Best Dribbler Award' in Ligue 1, where he leads the rankings, and is currently joint-top of the Ligue 1 assists chart with PSG's Bradley Barcola, as both sit on nine.

Is Moses Simon in contention for a CAF POTY nomination?
Given his form this season, it is fair to ask: does Moses Simon deserve a nomination for the CAF Player of the Year award?
While the likes of Mohamed Salah of Liverpool and Achraf Hakimi of Paris Saint Germain may be considered frontrunners, Simon’s consistency and impact shouldn’t be overlooked and should put him around the table with the greats this year.
Salah’s form at Liverpool has dipped, and reports suggest a possible move to Saudi Arabia could affect his status when the nominations come through.

Hakimi, despite his reputation, isn’t the focal point at PSG and has basically been stat-padding at PSG, who have already sewn up the Ligue 1 title with six games to spare.
Simon, by contrast, has stood out even in a struggling side.
Reports in France link him with a summer move to bigger clubs like Marseille and Lyon, which could boost his visibility and chances of recognition.

If he maintains this level of performance and secures a high-profile transfer to a bigger club, Moses Simon could well enter the conversation for CAF Player of the Year.
The Nigeira international has the quality and, this season, he’s showing it every week, even from the bottom half of the table for a struggling Nantes team.
