Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has called on Nigeria to prepare for a fierce battle as they face Libya in a crucial Africa Cup of Nations 2025 qualifier on Tuesday.
The match, which will take place at the Benina Martyrs Stadium in Benghazi, holds significant weight for both sides, with Nigeria looking to extend their lead in Group D and edge closer to qualification.
Nigeria edged out Libya 1-0 in their previous encounter in Uyo, thanks to a late strike from Lazio midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru. The 86th-minute goal saved Nigeria from a frustrating draw at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, ensuring that the Super Eagles remained top of their group.
Simon confident Eagles are ready for hostile Libya test
Simon, who plays his club football in France with Nantes, acknowledged the difficulty of the away fixture but assured fans that the Super Eagles are ready to meet the challenge head-on.

“They showed us a bit of what to expect there in Libya. But we’re mentally prepared for their hostility. We know they will want to come out to win,” Simon said.
“This will be good for us. So we will have to play neutral. We are really, really mentally prepared for them.”
Nigeria currently leads Group D with seven points, and another victory in Benghazi would all but guarantee their qualification for the 2025 AFCON, with two matches still to play. Simon and the rest of the Super Eagles will be hoping to put in a strong performance and take one step closer to securing their place in the continental showpiece.
