Mourinho wants to start Fenerbahçe revolution with Nigerian striker

Nigeria striker Terem Moffi has another suitor, as reports from Turkey suggest that Fenerbahçe are looking to bolster their attack with another striker, and Moffi’s name is among those listed.

The Turkish club’s new coach, José Mourinho, is an admirer of the striker who has been recently linked to Italian clubs Roma and AC Milan.

Fenerbahçe are a bit short in attack after Michy Batshuayi left them to join bitter rivals Galatasaray this off-season, leaving the club short in that department.

Though they have Edin Džeko, who scored 21 league goals last season, Mourinho has not been pleased with what he has seen so far with the other strikers at the club.

Fenerbahçe hope Moffi capture can elevate them

Last season, Fenerbahçe lost the league title to Galatasaray by just three points after garnering 99 points to Gala’s 102.

Mourinho, who was appointed as manager of the club last month, reportedly wants to bring in Terem Moffi to add more firepower to the Fenerbahçe attack.

Despite having other forwards like Umut Nayir, Irfan Can Kahveci, and Emre Mor, Mourinho is looking to add another striker to the ranks.

Moffi has been prolific in France since moving there from KV Kortrijk of Belgium in 2020, first landing at Lorient before moving to OGC Nice in January 2023.

In Ligue 1, the 25-year-old has scored 55 goals and provided 12 assists from 142 games.

Can Jose Mourinho tempt Moffi to leave Nice?

Though he has a contract with OGC Nice until 2027, it remains to be seen if he will be interested in playing under a great coach like Mourinho or if Fenerbahçe can make the French club an offer they cannot resist.

Moffi was part of Nigeria’s silver-winning team at the last Africa Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast. He is currently with the Nice squad in pre-season as they prepare for the resumption of the league.

If they manage to get Moffi, Fenerbahçe will hope he can strengthen their squad and mount a serious challenge for the league title this season after losing out to Galatasaray last season.
