‘Jersey 1000, zero trophy’ – Super Eagles fans weigh in on new Nike kits

Nigerian football fans have shared their opinions on the latest home and away Nike kits for the Super Eagles.

The West African nation will sport a new jersey when they take on Ghana and Mali in their upcoming international friendlies.

On Monday, February 18, 2024, photos of the new Super Eagles kits started flooding social media, as fans had their say. The home kit is dominated by black and green, with the colours intertwined in a stylish way.

The away jersey is also predominantly white, with shades of green adorning the sleeves and shorts, while “Naija” is inscribed on the front of the kit.

Nigeria will likely wear their home kit (white) when they face Ghana on March 22 in Marrakech, Morocco, in their first friendly of the March international break. However, the Super Eagles are likely to opt for their away kit for the game against Mali in order to avoid a clash of colours against the Eagles.

Super Eagles fans react to new Nike kits

Since Nigeria’s latest home and away kits were made public, many fans have taken to social media to share their opinions.

Some of the fans were impressed with the jersey designs but a few thought the latest kits weren’t better than the last ones that were released three years ago.

A Super Eagles fan by the name Foundational Yoruba Man on X (formerly Twitter) wrote: “I’ve bought like 10 kits in the last year. I’m tired! Take my money.”

Another fan, Kingsley Ekanem, also expressed his satisfaction with the latest Nike kits, commenting: “Maybe it will be the first time ever I’ll wear Nigeria’s football jersey. Definitely purchasing this white.”

A third fan, Gyinah, decided to rather poke fun at Ghanaians by saying not even Ghana Jollof compared to Nigeria’s kits. “Omo Nigeria’s kits na fire. Not even Ghana jollof can battle dis kits.”
