Nigeria's Super Falcons squared off against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon on Monday February 26.
Both teams battled it out for a place in the final qualifying round of the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.
After playing out a goalless draw in the first leg, Randy Waldrum's troops prevailed over Cameroon in the return leg, defeating them by a lone goal.
Esther Okoronkwo's early goal was enough to see the Super Falcons through, as they managed to prevent the Indomitable Lionesses from clawing their way back into the game.
With that in mind, Nigerians have reacted to the Super Falcons' victory on X (formerly Twitter).
It's important to point out that the Super Falcons game was not broadcast on TV, and fans had to catch the action on YouTube.
However, the quality of the stream was mediocre at best, and Nigerians didn't hesitate to complain about it.
@GiveDemFinish described the YouTube coverage as awful and amateur.
While @TalmudicSage also shared their thoughts about the poor camera angles, they also noted that the Super Falcons have gotten worse since their FIFA Women's World Cup campaign last year, where they advanced to the Round of 16.
Moreover, @emede_villa was dissatisfied with the Super Falcons' performance, describing it as lazy and very uninspiring.
There were also concerns about the state of the pitch
Nigeria are now on a quest to qualify for the Summer Olympics for the first time since 2008. Interestingly, the Super Falcons crashed out of this stage in the last three Olympics qualifiers, something @ChiemekaEmee mentioned.
The Super Falcons will go up against either South Africa or Tanzania in the final qualifying round.
Banyana Banyana have the upper hand, as they cruised through a comfortable 3-0 victory over Tanzania on the road.
With that in mind, Nigeria will most likely meet South Africa in the next round.
