The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations is just around the corner, and a handful of teams are preparing for Africa's biggest football tournament. Nigeria's Super Eagles are currently in the UAE for their training camp, and they've lined up a mouthwatering clash ahead of their Nations Cup campaign.
Jose Peseiro's men will square off against the Syli National of Guinea, exactly one week before their opening game at the AFCON 2023. This is a friendly game, so the only thing at stake is bragging rights. That said both teams are set to participate in the showpiece in Ivory Coast and would hope to get a morale boost by winning on Monday.
Nigeria vs Guinea form
It's important to point out that the Super Eagles have not fared particularly well when it comes to friendly matches as they won just one of their last 16 friendlies, with seven draws and eight losses. In fact, between March 2019 and October 2023, Nigeria's national team went on a 15-match winless streak in friendly games.
Likewise, Guinea have had their fair share of struggles when it comes to friendly matches. They suffered three losses in their last six friendlies, with a win and two draws. Additionally, the last time the Syli National faced the Super Eagles was back in June 2019. Both teams were paired in the same AFCON group, and Nigeria emerged victorious by a lone goal.

Nigeria vs Guinea predicted lineups
Nigeria
Peseiro has experimented with different formations over the past couple of weeks, as the Super Eagles adopted the 4-3-3, 4-4-2 and 4-2-3-1 formations in their last three matches.
While it's unclear which formation the Portuguese coach will use, he's expected to start Francis Uzoho in goal, with Victor Osimhen and Victor Boniface leading the attack. Here's how we believe the Super Eagles will line up for this fixture in a 4-3-3 setup:
Goalkeeper: Francis Uzoho.
Defenders: Ola Aina, Chidozie Awaziem, Calvin Bassey, Zaidu Sanusi.
Midfielders: Alex Iwobi, Frank Onyeka, Joe Aribo.
Forwards: Moses Simon, Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface.
Guinea
On the other hand, Guinea's coach Kaba Diawara fancies a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Hibernians' Ibrahim Kone between the sticks, and Stuttgart hotshot Serhou Guirassy being the lone striker. Here's our probable lineup for the Syli National:
Goalkeeper: Ibrahim Kone.
Defenders: Julian Jeanvier, Sekou Sylla, Mouctar Diakhaby, Antoine Conté.
Midfielders: Amadou Diawara, Karim Cissé, Mory Konaté, Naby Keita, Facinet Conté.
Forwards: Serhou Guirassy.
