Randy Waldrum has made two changes to the Super Falcons' starting XI for their match against the reigning World Champions, Spain, compared to the team that played against Brazil. Asisat Oshoala has been handed her first start of the competition.
Nigeria endured a 1-0 loss to Brazil in their opening Group C game last Thursday, despite a spirited performance. They now look to bounce back with a win against Montserrat Tomé's side, Spain, in their upcoming match.
Spain, currently leading the group, came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over Japan, thanks to goals from Aitana Bonmati and Mariona Caldentey.
A win for La Roja will secure their place in the quarterfinals. The Super Falcons must avoid defeat on Sunday to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stages alive.
It is worth noting that this is Spain's first appearance at the Summer Olympics. Currently, La Roja boasts 26 wins in their last 29 matches.
