Nigeria vs Zimbabwe: ‘Troost-Ekong is not good enough’ – Super Eagles fans react

Published on by

Nigeria's quest for a seventh appearance at the FIFA World Cup suffered a major setback after a 1-1 draw with Lesotho at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Tuesday.

The Super Eagles were unable to take advantage of their numerous chances, and even though they took the lead with just over 15 minutes remaining, Eric Chelle's troops were unable to hold on for the win.

Interestingly, Nigeria have failed to win any of their home games in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, as all three matches played at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium ended 1-1.

With that in mind, Super Eagles fans did not hesitate to make their thoughts known on X (formerly Twitter).

Some fans were quick to blame Eric Chelle for Nigeria's disappointing result.

However, others pointed out that the coach wasn't at fault for the players’ wastefulness.

Nigeria have earned seven points from six group matches so far. They are six points behind Group C leaders South Africa. With four games left to play, securing an automatic World Cup ticket is highly unlikely.
