Osimhen has a ‘finishing problem’ – Ex-Turkey international Nihat

Former Turkey international Nihat Kahveci has spoken highly of Victor Osimhen's attitude and performances following his move to Galatasaray.

Despite not yet finding the back of the net in his first three appearances for the reigning Turkish champions since joining on a season-long loan from Napoli, the Nigeria striker has made a notable impact by registering assists, earning widespread admiration from Turkey’s football community.

Kahveci, whose playing career included stints at Beşiktaş, Real Sociedad, and Villarreal, praised the 25-year-old's determination, work ethic, and all-around contributions on the field, highlighting his tenacity, assists, and potential to elevate Galatasaray if he can improve his finishing.

Nihat Kahveci commends Victor Osimhen's tenacity

Nihat offered insight into Osimhen's impact at Galatasaray, praising his character and humility following a standout performance in the UEFA Europa League on Wednesday night.

“Victor Osimhen does not say, ‘I am a 100 million euro player. PSG wanted me, Chelsea wanted me. I flew, I ran, I scored many goals. Maybe Real Madrid will want me, maybe Barcelona will want me'.

“He does justice to this place in every sense of the fight. Osimhen did his job well; he made assists.”

Nihat, himself a prolific striker in his heyday, however acknowledged the necessity of scoring for a striker, and suggested the Nigeria international's current drought is down to a technical failing that requires fixing.

“If Osimhen solves his finishing problem, Galatasaray will go 4 by 4,” he said. “Apart from the one goal he missed, Osimhen's struggle, determination, and leaving no place untouched on the field are amazing.”
