No joy for Lookman as Atalanta fall to Inter Milan in top-of-the-table clash

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman and his Atalanta side suffered a setback in their Serie A campaign, falling 2-0 to league leaders Inter Milan at the Gewiss Stadium.

Atalanta, third in the standings, aimed to close the gap on Inter and Napoli but saw their hopes dashed with this defeat.

Despite dominating possession, they struggled to create clear-cut chances, while Inter looked more dangerous in the first half, keeping Lookman quiet.

The first half ended goalless, but Inter took control after the break.

Carlos Augusto broke the deadlock in the 54th minute, and as Atalanta pushed for an equaliser, they were caught out.

Midfielder Ederson received two quick yellow cards, reducing Atalanta to ten men.

Inter took full advantage, with Lautaro Martรญnez sealing the win in the 88th minute.

To make matters worse for Atalanta, head coach Gian Piero Gasperini was sent off moments after Interโ€™s second goal, capping a frustrating night for the hosts.

It was a night to forget for Ademola Lookman and Atalanta as they lost ground on the top sides, with the Nigerian spending 83 minutes on the pitch.

Lookman had 40 touches, registering one off-target shot and another blocked attempt.

He completed just one of his dribbling attempts but managed five key passes and one accurate long ball.

The forward completed 15 of his 22 attempted passes, recording a 68% success rate. He also delivered four crosses, with two finding their target.

In duels, Lookman won his only aerial contest and succeeded in four of the eight ground duels he contested in a match where Atalanta struggled to make an impact.
