Remo Stars coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, has expressed his desire to secure a permanent role as an assistant coach for the Super Eagles following Nigeria's commanding 3-0 victory over Benin in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Ogunmodede, who guided Remo Stars to a second-place finish in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) last season, was appointed as a temporary assistant coach alongside Fidelis Ilechukwu by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). This tradition of appointing top-performing NPFL coaches to assist the national team on a part-time basis saw both men join head coach Augustine Eguavoen's staff during the international break.
Their first outing with the Super Eagles proved successful, as Nigeria cruised to a big victory over the Cheetahs of Benin, with standout performances from Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman helping to secure the result.
Ogunmodede ready for national team responsibility

Speaking after the match to 54footballx, Ogunmodede expressed his openness to a permanent role within the Super Eagles setup, citing his commitment to national service.
“Any good opportunity that comes from the national team, I can hardly say no,” Ogunmodede stated. “Especially if it comes from the head coach or the Federation. If they want me to stay on, I’ll be more than willing to serve.”
With their next match against Rwanda in Kigali on the horizon, Ogunmodede and Ilechukwu will be keen to solidify their positions within the national team, as another strong performance could boost their chances of securing permanent roles with the Super Eagles.
The Super Eagles will look to build on this momentum and continue their push for qualification for AFCON 2025.
