Kevin Martins, son of former Nigeria international Obafemi Martins, kicked off his senior career in style, helping Monza secure a 3-1 victory over Brescia in the Coppa Italia.
At just 19 years old, Kevin made his much-anticipated debut, seizing the opportunity handed to him by coach Alessandro Nesta.
Born in Milan while his father was starring for Inter, Kevin’s roots in football run deep.

He delivered an exciting performance, wasting no time in setting up the opening goal of the game with a superb cross which the Brescia defence failed to clear. Monza’s Georgios Kyriakopoulos was quick to pounce on it, firing the ball into the net to give his side an early lead.
Can Martins follow in his father's footsteps?
This dynamic start was followed by further goals from captain Matteo Pessina, who scored with a sweet header, and Gianluca Caprari, who converted a penalty, putting Monza in a commanding position before halftime.
Brescia managed to pull one back with a well-executed effort from Patrick Nuamah, but it was too little, too late. Monza held firm to claim their first win in six matches, a much-needed boost after a series of draws and losses.
The match not only marked a milestone for Kevin, who recently signed his first professional contract with Monza after impressing in the youth ranks, but also set the stage for future success as they prepare to face Napoli in their Serie A encounter.
Kevin’s emergence is a hopeful sign for Monza, as he is set to follow in the footsteps of his father, who enjoyed a successful career across several top European clubs and represented Nigeria on the international stage.
