Turkish media reports indicate that Nigeria striker Paul Onuachu has formally requested a transfer from Southampton.
The former Genk man rejoined Southampton for preseason following a successful loan spell at Trabzonspor. During his time in Turkey, he made a significant impact, contributing to 21 goals in 25 matches—scoring 17 and providing four assists—even with a month-and-a-half injury layoff.
Despite the 30-year-old's desire to remain in Turkey and join Trabzonspor on a permanent basis, the Turkish club has been unable to meet Southampton's asking price for the striker.

Subsequently, the centre-forward, who is also attracting interest from Saudi Pro League side Al-Okhdood, has reportedly informed Southampton manager Russell Martin of his desire to leave the club this summer, according to Fanatik.
Onuachu to Trabzonspor: Potential swap deal involving Göztepe
Southampton owners Sport Republic hold a 70 percent stake in Göztepe, which could play a crucial role in the transfer negotiations involving Onuachu.
As Trabzonspor aim to secure Onuachu, they are considering sending Mislav Oršić and another player to Göztepe as part of the deal. This move may facilitate the transfer by leveraging the close ties between Southampton and Göztepe.
Last season, Trabzonspor secured Oršić from Southampton for €2.4 million. Whether Oršić will be used in the swap deal depends on the decision of Trabzonspor’s coach, Abdullah Avcı. The outcome will likely influence the final details of Onuachu's transfer.
Onuachu joined Southampton from Belgian club KRC Genk in February 2023. However, his time with the Saints began poorly, as he failed to score in his 12 league appearances. The team subsequently suffered relegation to the Championship.
