Onuachu emerges as target for title rivals to former club Genk

Belgian giants Club Brugge are reportedly in the running to secure the signature of Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu.

Onuachu returned to Southampton at the beginning of the season following an impressive loan spell with Trabzonspor, where he contributed to 21 goals in 25 appearances, scoring 17 and providing four assists.

However, the burly striker has seen his playing time limited, having logged only 16 minutes in the Saints' 3-1 loss to Arsenal before the international break, largely due to an injury to Ross Stewart.

Southampton have struggled to deliver convincing performances so far this season, with Russell Martin’s side conceding 15 goals in seven league matches while managing to score only four in response.

Club Brugge expresses Interest in Paul Onuachu

Turkish outlet Fotomac reports that Paul Onuachu is attracting Belgian champions Club Brugge.

Currently sitting fifth in the league table with 15 points from 10 matches, Club Brugge are keen to strengthen the depth of their attack with the Nigerian forward, who has an impressive history in the Belgian league.

He had a four-year spell in the Belgian Pro League with Genk where he played 134 matches and scored 85 goals for them.

The 30-year-old, who has yet to score for Southampton since joining from Genk for €18 million in January 2023, is also being monitored by Trabzonspor, who are interested in acquiring his services in the upcoming January transfer window.

Reports indicate that Southampton have set a price of €12 million (£10.3 million).
