Raphael Onyedika provided Club Brugge with an early spark at the Etihad Stadium, opening the scoring in their UEFA Champions League clash against Manchester City on Wednesday.

However, the reigning Premier League champions mounted a commanding response, staging a second-half comeback to secure a 3-1 victory and reinforce their dominance in the competition.

The Nigeria international broke the deadlock in the 45th minute, latching onto a pass from Ferran Jutglà before expertly dispatching a low strike past City goalkeeper Ederson, giving the visitors a surprise lead heading into the break.

Mateo Kovačić restored parity for the hosts just eight minutes into the second half, setting the stage for Manchester City's comeback.

Brugge’s Joel Ordóñez then inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, handing City a narrow advantage before substitute Savinho sealed the victory in the 77th minute, securing all three points for the English champions.

Onyedika's performance in numbers: A solid display despite defeat

Despite Club Brugge's defeat at the Etihad, Raphael Onyedika delivered a commendable performance in midfield.

The Super Eagles star recorded 35 touches and maintained an 80% passing accuracy, completing 20 of his 25 attempted passes.

He also created one key pass and registered two shots—one on target, which resulted in his well-taken goal, and another off target.

Defensively, Onyedika contributed with three clearances and a tackle, while also engaging in five ground duels, winning two.

His all-round display highlighted his influence on both ends of the pitch, even as Brugge fell short against the former European champions.
