Osayi-Samuel: Super Eagles star earns rave reviews, subject of English club interest

Former England international Carlton Palmer has expressed high praise for Nigeria international Bright Osayi-Samuel, who has recently been linked with a move to Norwich City.

Currently contracted to Turkish side Fenerbahçe, the 26-year-old's future remains uncertain, with his deal set to expire in June 2025. However, an impasse between the player and the club has fueled speculation regarding a potential move away from the club.

Despite parting ways with several key players during the summer transfer window, the Canaries have made an impressive start to the season, currently sitting just one point shy of a Championship play-off position.

Palmer believes that bringing Osayi-Samuel back to England, specifically to Norwich City, could be a fantastic move, particularly as the club looks to strengthen its squad while maintaining a strong position in the Championship.

Palmer champions Osayi-Samuel's transfer to Norwich as a key addition

In an interview with Football League World, Palmer remarked on Osayi-Samuel's versatility and impact:

“He has moved back to full-back playing for Fenerbahçe, but he used to be a winger at QPR. He’s got plenty of energy, plenty of unpredictability, and he can play down the right flank. If they can get him back, I think it would be a fantastic move for Norwich. Since moving to Turkey, he has won the cup, and they’ve been consistently challenging at the top of the league.”

Palmer continued, “It’s an area they’ve got to have a look at, and bringing players in of his quality and experience would help, because Norwich haven’t got that much to choose from outside of their first 11 players. He’s experienced, which would be good for Throup, and he can operate in two positions, so it depends on the type of money they would have to pay. But, with Norwich sitting in 7th place in the Championship, it could be fantastic business.”

The former Quens Park Rangers (QPR) player has made three appearances for Fenerbahçe this season across all competitions, averaging 58 minutes of play per game.
