Rangers head coach Philippe Clement has offered an update on Leon Balogun's injury after the Nigerian defender was forced off at halftime during their emphatic 6-0 victory over Ross County.
Balogun, 36, was a surprise inclusion in the starting lineup despite concerns over his fitness following a recent knock. With limited defensive options available, Clement decided to gamble on the experienced centre-back, but his involvement was cut short.
The incident occurred in the 38th minute when Rangers, already leading by a goal, were awarded a corner. As Balogun contested for the ball in the air, he landed awkwardly, appearing to suffer injuries to both his back and head. The match was immediately halted to allow medical staff to assess the situation, in line with the protocol for potential head injuries.
Balogun laid on the pitch for several minutes before gingerly getting to his feet and walking off. However, it was quickly determined that he would not be able to continue, and Mohamed Diomande was brought on as his replacement.

Clement optimistic about Balogun's quick recovery after neck injury
Speaking post-match, Clement downplayed the severity of the injury, expressing optimism that Balogun would recover quickly.
“Leon got a knock and he hurt his neck. That was unlucky because he was good in the game, and last week, he missed, so I wanted to get him into the game rhythm. I don’t think it will be a big thing for next week, so I think in a few days he will be better. It’s just his neck is blocked now,” the Rangers coach told Sky Sports.
The Scottish giants will be hoping that the former Super Eagles defender will be fit for their upcoming clash against rivals Celtic, especially with their defensive options already limited as Robin Propper remains on the treatment table.
