Remo Stars coach Daniel Ogunmodede is a satisfied man after his team secured a 2-1 victory over Moroccan side AS FAR in the first leg of the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League on Sunday.
The match, held in Ikenne, was an entertaining affair, featuring three headed goals.
Despite the victory, Ogunmodede remains cautious, emphasizing that the job is only half done and warning against complacency as they prepare for the second leg in Rabat.

“We are happy we won,” he said. “Fortunately, they were the first team to hand us our first defeat on the continent, and it feels good to return the favour this time.”
Remo Stars caught napping, must be on guard in CAF CL preliminary return leg
Despite a confident showing the Remo Stars head coach admitted a moment of vulnerability that could have hurt his team during the proceedings.
“The first ten minutes of the second half were so scary for us,” Ogunmodede said. “We slept off, and they caught us unawares, leading to their goal. This was the worst moment for us in the game.”
Looking ahead to the return leg, Ogunmodede expects a challenging match both on and off the pitch.
The last time Remo Stars played AS FAR in Morocco, they managed a 1-1 draw, a result Ogunmodede believes his team can replicate.

“Firstly, I would like to talk about what we expect from them. We anticipate a lot of hostility, both on and off the pitch, as is their custom.
Their antics are something we are prepared for, and we will be ready for whatever they throw at us,” he said.
The second leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary tie will be played in Rabat on Sunday, 25 August 2024.
