Born in Umuahia, Samuel Chukwueze developed his skills within the ranks of Future Hope, New Generation Academy and  Diamond Academy in Nigeria before Villarreal swooped for his signature in 2017, amid reported interest from Arsenal, Monaco and Porto.

His move to the Spanish club was largely influenced by his standout performances at the 2015 FIFA-U17 World Cup, where he helped Nigeria lift the trophy.

At Villarreal, he gradually established himself as one of La Liga’s most exciting wingers. In 2021, he played a vital role in the club’s UEFA Europa League triumph, scoring crucial goals en route to the final. His strong performances in Spain attracted interest from top European clubs, leading to a transfer to AC Milan in 2023.

His strengths include his one-on-one ability, agility, and sharp finishing when cutting onto his stronger left foot. However, he sometimes struggles for consistency and decision-making, particularly in delivering the final pass. Also, while he is an attacking force, his defensive work rate and off-the-ball movement could be improved.

In addition to winning the FIFA U-17 World Cup with Nigeria and the UEFA Europa League with Villarreal, Chukwueze also won the Supercoppa Italiana with Milan in the 2024/25 season. On an individual level, he claimed the FIFA U-17 Bronze Boot, and was named La Liga African MVP for the 2022/23 season.

Chukwueze made his Super Eagles debut in November 2018 during a friendly against Uganda, and has been a consistent presence in the Nigerian national team ever since.
