Iheanacho finally set for Sevilla debut as La Liga side sacrifice World Cup winner

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho is poised to make his La Liga debut for Sevilla this Friday when they take on Villarreal.

The Nigeria international, who joined the Spanish side this summer following the expiration of his contract with Leicester City, was initially left out of the squad for their opening match against Las Palmas due to La Liga’s stringent financial regulations.

Iheanacho, known for his technical ability and goal-scoring prowess, made his first appearance for Sevilla in a preseason friendly against Liverpool, where he played the fisrt half in a 4-1 loss.

However, his official debut was delayed as Sevilla struggled to register him under the league's financial fair play rules.

Acuña transfer to pave the way for Kelechi iheanacho?

With the departure of 2022 World Cup winner Marcos Acuña to River Plate, Sevilla have managed to align with La Liga’s financial regulations, allowing them to finalize Kelechi Iheanacho’s registration.

The 27-year-old is now set to make his La Liga debut this weekend against Villarreal, bringing a new attacking dimension to the Andalusian club’s frontline.

Iheanacho had a mixed spell at Leicester City, where he showed flashes of brilliance but struggled for consistency, particularly in the latter stages of his time at the King Power.

Despite these challenges, the former Manchester City striker remains a player of considerable talent and is expected to be a key addition to Los Nervionenses as they aim for a strong season in La Liga.
