Super Eagles winger Moses Simon looks set to win the first-ever Ligue 1 award for the most dribbles in the French top flight.

The new award, introduced by the French Football League (LFP), is aimed at recognising the player with the highest dribbling output in a season.

A handful of players are in the running, but Simon is right up there with the very best.

The Nigerian has been one of the few bright spots in what has been a turbulent season for FC Nantes.

He was at it again on Friday night away at Nice, setting up the opening goal in Nantes’ crucial 2–1 win that pulled them out of the relegation zone.

Now in his sixth season in France, Simon is enjoying one of his most productive campaigns. He has scored 7 goals and provided 9 assists so far — numbers that speak to his all-round impact in attack.

But it is his dribbling that truly stands out.

Can Simon win the dribblers award?

According to the LFP, Simon currently leads Ligue 1 in attempted dribbles per game, with an average of 8.87 per 90 minutes.

He’s ahead of PSG’s Désiré Doué (8.74) and Ousmane Dembélé (7.66), both of whom are known for their flair and creativity.

When it comes to dribbling efficiency, Simon also ranks high.

He averages 4.43 successful dribbles per match, just behind Doué’s 4.55 — putting him among the very best not just for quantity, but also quality.

That consistency in one-on-one situations makes him a nightmare for defenders and a constant threat in transition for Nantes.

In addition to his dribbling, Simon is also joint second in Ligue 1 for assists this season. He shares the spot with Lyon’s Rayan Cherki (9 assists), only trailing PSG’s Bradley Barcola, who has 10.

With Ligue 1 now recognising dribblers with an official award, the Nigerian winger is perfectly placed to make history as the first recipient.
