Umar Sadiq’s resurgence in La Liga has been crowned with a major recognition, as the Super Eagles forward won the La Liga Goal of the Month award for March.
The Valencia striker, on loan from Real Sociedad, showcased his brilliance with a stunning strike that earned him the prestigious accolade. Sadiq’s prolific form saw him net three goals in three matches—two against Osasuna and one against Valladolid—to clinch the award.
His stunning 87th-minute backheel equaliser in Valencia’s exhilarating 3-3 draw against Osasuna was a moment of sheer brilliance, displaying his flair and instinct in front of goal.

The Nigeria international edged out some of La Liga’s biggest stars to claim the award, surpassing the likes of Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid), Isco (Real Betis), Marcos Alonso (Celta Vigo), and Pedro Díaz (Rayo Vallecano).
However, the towering forward narrowly missed out on the La Liga Player of the Month award for March.
Should Sadiq have been Super Eagles joker against Zimbabwe?
Despite earning a spot in Éric Chelle’s final squad for the Super Eagles’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, Umar Sadiq was left waiting on the sidelines.
The 28-year-old remained an unused substitute in both fixtures, as Chelle opted to start with Victor Osimhen, while Tolu Arokodare and Victor Boniface were introduced from the bench.

The Super Eagles secured a 2-0 victory over Rwanda before settling for a 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe, with all three of their goals coming from Osimhen.
Sadiq has been a pivotal figure in Rubén Baraja’s setup since his arrival, netting four goals in eight appearances and making a significant impact in Valencia’s attacking play.
