Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo has taken his skills outside the football field by expanding his business with a lounge in Madrid.

Obafemi Martins and Haruna Garba, both retired, have opened up hotels and lounges in Lagos and Gombe respectively, but Omeruo has elected to do so while still being active.

The Kasimpasa of Turkey defender has opened a lounge in Madrid, Spain called the “Ballers Lounge” where all sorts of drinks and cocktails are available.

Located in Móstoles, the lounge, which has been in the works for a few years now, caters for both Africans in the Madrid area as well as residents of Madrid who want to have the ultimate lounge experience.

Ballers Lounge debuts

At the opening of the lounge a few weeks ago, a few Super Eagles stars like Francis Uzoho, Chidozie Awaziem and Samuel Chukwueze showed up to support the veteran defender at the grand opening.

According to Omeruo, the lounge has everything one needs to relax after a hard day's work as well as spaces to host functions.

When asked if this was his retirement plan, Omeruo said it isn't necessarily a retirement plan, but that he had always wanted to go into hospitality and he doesn't have to wait to retire to do so.

“Ballers Lounge has been in the works for some time and I am glad that it has come to life now. I am very happy,” he told Afrik-foot.com.

“It is one of the things I do outside football. It is one of the areas I am interested in outside football, so I decided to try my hands at it.

“This isn't the only thing I have in mind. I am also involved in a few football-related projects and will continue with them when I retire. Football is a part and parcel of me and will remain so when I am active and when I retire,” he added.

“The lounge has all you need. We have cocktails, shisha, drinks, and much more. If you are in Madrid, you can check us out.”

Kenneth Omeruo was part of Nigeria's AFCON-winning squad in 2013 and was also part of the team that finished second behind Ivory Coast in AFCON 2023.

He also started in Nigeria's 2-0 loss to Mali in the last international friendly played at the Grand Stade de Marrakech on Tuesday.

Omeruo has 66 caps for Nigeria.
