Super Eagles duo shine in thrilling Fulham triumph over Tottenham

Super Eagles stars Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey were both in action as Fulham defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at Craven Cottage on Sunday in the English Premier League.

Two late goals by Rodrigo Muniz and Ryan Sessegnon secured all three points for Fulham.

Both sides were at each other's throats from the start, with numerous chances created, but the first half ended goalless despite the intense pressure.

Iwobi was instrumental in most of Fulham’s positive moves throughout the game.

The home side deservedly took the lead in the 78th minute, thanks to an assist from Andreas Pereira.

Tottenham pushed forward in search of an equalizer but were caught out when Sessegnon scored Fulham’s second goal, effectively sealing the victory for the home side.

Both players started the game, but Iwobi was substituted in the 63rd minute, while Bassey played the full match.

Iwobi had 47 touches and completed 19 of his 28 attempted passes, registering a 68% success rate. He delivered one successful cross out of four attempts and completed one of two long balls.

The 28-year-old attempted four dribbles, succeeding in two. In duels, he lost his only aerial contest and won five of the 11 ground duels he engaged in.

Bassey played a key role in Fulham’s clean sheet with his defensive contributions. He made four tackles and recorded three clearances.

The defender had 53 touches and completed 39 of his 43 attempted passes, achieving a 91% success rate.

He won one of three aerial duels and was more effective on the ground, winning six of the eight ground duels he contested.
