Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze has come under criticism from pundits in Italy who have suggested he has not pulled his weight since his move to Serie A from Spain.

Sky journalist Peppe Di Stefano has criticized Samuel Chukwueze, branding him as the ‘disappointment of the season' for AC Milan due to his underwhelming performances.

Chukwueze made his move to Milan from LaLiga outfit Villarreal during the 2023 summer transfer window in a deal worth €20 million plus substantial bonuses, making him the club's most expensive signing of the window, which saw 10 players arrive.

The 24-year-old arrived at Milan following an impressive season with Villarreal, where he recorded 13 goals and 11 assists in 52 appearances. His signing generated considerable excitement among fans and pundits alike.

However, the Nigerian winger has struggled to replicate his form, managing only two goals and one assist so far, with no goals in Serie A. In contrast, Christian Pulisic has made more significant contributions.

Speaking on Sky, Peppe Di Stefano expressed his disappointment with Chukwueze's performances this season, as reported by PianetaMilan.

“Slavia Prague are a team that can be beaten, but Milan must manage things well because there are four games before the break,” Di Stefano commented.

Pioli has many players back now, and he is no longer in an emergency situation. He has a good squad in terms of numbers. However, he doesn’t have great alternatives at right-wing, as Chukwueze has been the disappointment of the season.”

Chukwueze has started 10 games and has played limited minutes, failing to showcase the qualities he displayed during his time with Villarreal.

At the Africa Cup of Nations, Chukwueze made 6 appearances for Nigeria which combined for 286 minutes as Nigeria lost to the Ivory Coast 2-1 in the final.
