Former Super Eagles player Chinedu Obasi has reflected on his remarkable career, recalling his trailblazing journey through Nigerian football.
Obasi believes he is the first player to represent Nigeria at all levels of international football successively.
The former Hoffenheim forward began his journey with the Nigerian national teams at the 2003 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Finland, the featured for the Flying Eagles at the 2005 FIFA U-20 World Cup two years later, helping Nigeria secure a silver medal.

His impressive displays ultimately earned him a move to German Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, marking the beginning of his professional career in Europe.
The 38-year-old was also a key member of the Nigerian team during the 2008 Olympic Games, notably scoring two goals in a standout match against Belgium.
Obasi celebrates legacy with the Super Eagles & other national teams
Speaking to journalist Oma Akatugba in a recent interview, Chinedu Obasi reflected on his trailblazing career with the Nigerian national teams.
“I have served Nigeria; I was actually the first person to play for the U17s in 2003, U21s in 2025, Olympics 2008, World Cup, and Africa Cup of Nations in 2010,” he said.

“The first Nigerian to go back-to-back, which I didn’t even know. I was told by the media, and I was like, really, I didn’t even know. With that being said, going through this process and I went to the World Cup with Nigeria, which is a proud moment for me.”
Obasi made 26 appearances for the Super Eagles and scored four goals within the period. His dynamic career took him across the globe, featuring for clubs in England, Germany, Sweden, and China.
